NY AIDS memorial

 

 

This design intends to express and contrast the beauty and frailty of life with the menacing ever presence of death. The

magnitude of the AIDS tragedy is put in parallel with the majesty and beauty of life. A place for mourning as well as celebration. Sorrow and hope. Light and dark. Together.

With this in mind we created one continuous design consisting of three distinct spaces linked both spatially, functionally and symbolically (a meadow park, a meditation area and an underground learning centre). Light, shadow and darkness.

 

 

Com este projeto pretende-seexpressar o contraste da beleza e da fragilidade da vida com a presença sempre ameaçadora da morte. A dimenção da tragédia SIDA é posto em paralelo com o majestade da beleza da vida. Um lugar para o luto, bem como celebração. Tristeza e esperança, Luz e escuridão. Juntos. 

Com isso em mente, tentamos  desenhar um espaço contínuo que consiste em três espaços distintos ligados a nivel espacial, funcional e simbolicamente (um prado, uma área de meditação e um centro de aprendizagem). Luz, sombra e trevas.
